A ‘substantial’ amount of crack cocaine and heroin was seized when cops swooped on suspected drug dealing in Nuneaton and Leamington.

The haul of Class A drugs was gathered after dedicated drugs teams struck in the two towns yesterday (January 11).

Warwickshire Police’s county lines disruption team stopped a BMW after spotting a suspected drug deal in Rock Mill Lane, Leamington.

Following a search, the officers seized what has been described as a ‘substantial’ amount of heroin and crack cocaine, as well as cash.

Lionel Sop, 28, of no fixed abode, was arrested and later charged with possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply and driving without a licence and insurance.

He was due to appear at Coventry Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (January 12).

A couple of hours later, officers from Nuneaton Proactive CID detained a man after spotting a suspected drug deal in High Street, Nuneaton.

They seized cash, heroin and cocaine.

Michael Fotis, 18, of no fixed abode, has been charged with possession of cocaine and heroin with intent to supply and possessing criminal property.

He was also due to appear at Coventry Magistrates’ Court today.
