Demand for testing has led to no walk-in PCR testing slots being available to book across Coventry and Warwickshire.

That is according to the latest information on the government website, which shows there are no slots for people to book in at walk-in PCR test sites across our region.

It is a picture that is mirrored across the country as, according to the website, there were not slots in any parts of England.

Home testing kits are available to order online.

But people cannot currently book an appointment at their local PCR testing site.

The website states: “Tests need to go to essential workers first, including NHS and social care staff.

“If you cannot get a test now, try again later. You will not be able to get a test through the helplines.”

The government website revealed there were no bookable PCR test centre slots available earlier today (December 27)

It shows there has been a surge in demand for tests.

This has inevitably led to a rise in the number of cases.

Coventry has seen its positive covid rate rocket in recent weeks, while parts of Warwickshire have the highest rates in the West Midlands region.
