Warwickshire-based business owner Ola Goldsmith recently featured on the latest episode of Dragons’ Den.

Ola is the founder of Naked Weave, a hair extension technique, developed through many years in the industry.

She launched her business in 2012 and had little experience but plenty of drive and passion.

Ola said: “I started Naked Weave because I wanted to make weave hair extensions be chosen by more customers as they are easier to look after and more profitable.

“However, they were not known for being discreet so I knew I needed to change this and it naturally developed into me educating others.”

Her business is now a six-figure thriving company, specialising in developing brand new hair weaving techniques.

Although funding was not secured in the Den, Deborah Meaden gave Ola some wise advice that helped put her nerves at ease by reassuring the Nuneaton-based businesswoman that she should feel confident and believe in herself more.

While Ola feels that the Dragon panel might not have been the right fit for her, however, their words of encouragement have given her the drive to continue her search for investors.

Of her time in the Den, Ola says: “Featuring on the Dragons’ Den was the single most scary thing I’ve ever done in my life – the lead up to it was long and gruelling and there was so much I had to learn about my business that I didn’t know before.

“I was also really eager to see Steven Bartlett during my time on the show and especially excited to hear what he had to say about my product.”

She added: “I went to the Den alone and it was so scary but I knew this was something I had to do to build my business and find out where the future was heading with it.”

“It’s not often people like me, raised in a small town get such big-time opportunities. It was a dream come true. I can’t believe I did it. I’m so proud of myself.”

Her time in the Den was part of a wider plan to secure finances to market the product on a larger scale as well as to develop her own range of human Remy hair.

Speaking about the future of Naked Weave, Ola said: “We are now looking to launch a hair range with the help of the right investors.

Ola revealed: “We’re having contact daily from people who are interested and are already in talks with one or two from last year. We are keeping our options open.”
