Peterborough United have completed the loan signing of striker Callum Morton from West Bromwich Albion ahead of their clash with Coventry City.
Morton, 21, has embarked on his fifth loan spell, the first at Championship level, and could be in contention for the weekend.
The West Brom loanee becomes Darren Ferguson’s fourth signing of the January transfer window after Joe Taylor, Steven Benda and Bali Mumba.
Morton will provide competition for places in Ferguson’s side as Posh bid to survive relegation from the Championship.
In his first interview for the club, Morton said: “When I heard about the interest from Peterborough, it was a one that I wanted to explore because they play in a way that suits my game.
“I want to press from the front, try and play on the shoulder and get in behind but first and foremost, I will work hard for the team, always give 100% and give my absolute all.
“Sometimes when you go out on loan, it is not all about scoring goals, it is improving as an all-round player. I feel that I have done that in loan spells.
“This is an opportunity for me to come to a Championship club, hopefully play some games and try and help the team. I know a few of the lads already and I am sure I will settle in quickly.”
The clash between the two sides will take place at the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday, January 15 (3pm kick-off).
