Police seized an Audi A3 in Warwickshire after the car had reportedly been stolen in Birmingham and subsequently cloned.

Officers from Warwickshire Police’s Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) acted on intelligence after spotting the motor, the type of which can cost £40,000 brand new, in Henley-in-Arden.

The car was followed into Claverdon, near Warwick, where police made their move to stop the driver.

“We had information that this Audi A3 was being used on false number plates,” a spokesperson said.

“It’s linked to a vehicle theft in Birmingham. The driver had no insurance so we’ve seized the vehicle and reported the driver.”
