A group of burglary suspects left behind a mangled car as they fled police in the early hours.
The trio smashed a Ford Focus into a police car as they were approached by officers on Wadebridge Drive, Nuneaton, before fleeing on foot,
A police helicopter was scrambled in an effort to trace the three but they remain at large today.
Detectives now say they are following up a number of leads.
But they are still appealing for any witnesses in the Wadebridge Drive area at around 3.15am who saw anything.
Investigating officer, Det Sgt Rav Gill from Warwickshire Police said: “We’re appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time, or who may have any CCTV cameras on their properties, to please come forward.
“A helicopter was deployed as part of a search for the individuals overnight, and a number of enquiries are currently ongoing to identify them.”
At around 3.15am, three people were reported acting suspiciously on Wadebridge Drive and on surrounding roads.
Police attended and found three suspects inside a parked Ford Focus.
As officers approached, the Focus collided with the police vehicle and the occupants then left the scene on foot.
Later this morning, a resident on Wadebridge Drive reported their house had been broken into overnight. Both incidents are currently being linked.
