Coventry City are in the hunt for highly-rated Manchester United teenager James Garner but will face stern competition from a host of Championship rivals.
The Red Devils midfielder is back from United’s Europa League stint out in Germany, and is expected to make a move on loan before the transfer window shuts.
Sky Blues boss Mark Robins, however, will likely face stern competition from the likes of Huddersfield, Bournemouth, Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday, who are all said to be keeping tabs on the situation, the Sun claim.
Aged just 19, Garner started three games last term under boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, coming off the bench in three others.
Coventry City will face quite a challenge in their final pre-season outing.
Mark Robins’ Sky Blues will face Southampton at St Mary’s on Tuesday, just a few days’ on from the Saints’ 7-1 thrashing of City’s Championship rivals Swansea.
The game will represent Robins’ final opportunity to run the rule of his players ahead of Saturday afternoon’s Carabao Cup first round tie at MK Dons.
While Southampton were making light work of the Swans on the south coast, Coventry were winning both their outings at Peterborough, an exercise which pleased the manager.
Coventry City will be without defender Leo Ostigard for next weekend’s Carabao Cup clash with MK Dons.
The 20-year-old defender put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal with the club on Thursday afternoon with parent side Brighton keen to see him play in England for the next stage of his career.
But they have now confirmed that he has received a call-up for Norway Under-21s that will see him jet off this week for friendlies against Gibraltar and Holland.
Ostigard started and impressed during the Sky Blues ‘ first win over Peterborough United on Saturday.

Summer signing Gustavo Hamer hopes he will continue to be on set-piece duty for Coventry City when the new campaign gets underway.
The midfielder has had plenty of practice with dead-ball situations for the Sky Blues in pre-season.
And as City look to make their mark in the Championship, Hamer would love to be on target with a few free-kicks.
The 23-year-old is aiming to find the back of the net with a few, as well as create goalscoring opportunities for his teammates, as he looks to hit the ground running in English football.
