Coventry City will face quite a challenge in their final pre-season outing.
Mark Robins’ Sky Blues will face Southampton at St Mary’s on Tuesday, just a few days’ on from the Saints’ 7-1 thrashing of City’s Championship rivals Swansea.
The game will represent Robins’ final opportunity to run the rule of his players ahead of Saturday afternoon’s Carabao Cup first round tie at MK Dons.
While Southampton were making light work of the Swans on the south coast, Coventry were winning both their outings at Peterborough, an exercise which pleased the manager.
“I think it was a good workout with some good performances,” said the Sky Blues supremo.
“It was really good, really interesting and there were some good, good goals.
“We took our chances really well today and Gervane Kastaneer came on in that right-back position and did well.
“It has been a really good workout for everybody – but there are still things we can improve on.”
