Coventry City will be without defender Leo Ostigard for next weekend’s Carabao Cup clash with MK Dons.
The 20-year-old defender put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal with the club on Thursday afternoon with parent side Brighton keen to see him play in England for the next stage of his career.
But they have now confirmed that he has received a call-up for Norway Under-21s that will see him jet off this week for friendlies against Gibraltar and Holland.
Ostigard started and impressed during the Sky Blues ‘ first win over Peterborough United on Saturday.
Goals from Matty Godden and Callum O’Hare saw them to victory in the opening game of the day before a double from Amadou Bakayoko and a stunning solo striker from Jodi Jones made it two wins on the day for the club.
The defender, who wore number two on the day, filled in for Michael Rose on the right side of a central defensive three – partnering Kyle McFadzean and Dom Hyam.
Mark Robins said: “We got some good debuts into us and Leo will be missed next week – but he will be back for the start of the [league] season.”
