Robins reveals priority positions to fill
Coventry City manager Mark Robins revealed at the weekend his hope to draft in more new players to complete his summer recruitment drive.
The Sky Blues boss has already made eight signings so far and with another month to go until the transfer window closes, and he’s keen to add more to make his squad as “robust” as possible as the club embark on their first season back in the Championship after an eight year absence.
Robins admitted after Saturday’s pre-season double header with Peterborough United that he’d like at least one more new player, three in an ideal world, with a central/defensive midfielder his priority.
Asked if the club are any nearer to getting anyone over the line, Robins told CoventryLive: “I would imagine we’re closer, yes, and as the days go by we’re looking to conclude things but I think we just keep pushing and see where we are over the next week or so.
Loan deal agreed – reports
Rising Coventry City star Jonny Ngandu has joined Icelandic club Keflavík on loan, according to reports.
The 18-year-old winger/attacking midfielder has missed a chunk of the Sky Blues pre-season through illness but returned to action on Tuesday this week when he marked his come-back with a goal in the 3-1 win against Southampton Under-23s.
And Fotbolti.net claim the teenager has hooked up with Keflavík who are currently in “a hard fight to get out of the Lengjudeild,” albeit the team is currently in second place with 24 points.
Ngandu has been highly rated at City as he has risen through the Academy.
Coventry City transfers – the state of play so far
Coventry City boss Mark Robins has been extremely active in the summer transfer market, recruiting eight new players to date.
And with the window set to stay open until the middle of next month, there’s still plenty more time for movement in and out of the club.
The transfer window is due to close on October 5 but Premier League and EFL clubs will still be able to get deals done as part of a domestic-only window from October 5-16.
That window will close on Friday, October 16 at 5pm.
Here we look at the business already done by the Sky Blues, who are looking to compete back in the Championship for the first time in eight long years, assess the prospect of more new recruits and take a look at who could be going through the exit door.
