A dangerous driver has been banned from the roads after crashing into a tree during a police chase in Nuneaton.
Edison Lita, 20, was given a 12 week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and was banned from driving for two years at Warwickshire Magistrates’ Court on Friday (September 25).
He had pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, failure to stop and driving without a licence.
As we reported in our newsletter, he fled after officers from the North Warwickshire Vehicle Crime Team tried to stop his BMW in Queen’s Road, Nuneaton, last week.
He eventually crashed into a tree and fled on foot before being arrested in Tomkinson Road.
Lita, of Winifred Road, Erith, London, was also fined £250 and ordered to do 120 hours unpaid work.
Speaking about the sentencing, PC Ryan Walker from the North Warwickshire Vehicle Crime Team said: “This dangerous driving put other road users at risk.
“The role of the vehicle crime team is to disrupt people committing crime on our roads and using the road network to commit criminal activity.”
“We make it our priority to bring offenders to justice.”
