Emergency services have blocked off a main road into Bedworth following a road smash.

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS), Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service and Warwickshire Police are at the scene in Coventry Road.

A fire engine and ambulance are currently blocking the road just before the Griffin Inn pub and restaurant.

Passers-by have reported that fire crews are using cutting gear on a car.

As a result, traffic is being re-directed and it is causing queues on roads such as Sutherland Drive heading towards Bedworth town centre.

A WMAS spokesperson said crews are on the scene but very little detail was available at the moment. “We were called by police at 8.40am to reports of a collision,” the WMAS spokesperson said. “It is unclear how many patients, if any, are being treated at the moment.”

Bus services that normally run through the area have been diverted.

According to NX Alerts on Twitter, the number 20 service is being re-routed.

It says: “Due to an incident on Coventry Road between Hill Street and Gipsy Lane. To Nuneaton Sutherland Drive, M6 island, Griff Island to normal line of route. To Coventry Sutherland Drive, Leicester Road to normal line of route. Apologies for any disruption.”

We will bring updates as soon as we get them.
