The ‘crocodile roll’ that inflicted what appears to be a serious knee injury on England flanker Jack Willis has been met with outcry on social media.

The Wasps flanker groaned in agony after his knee buckled when being rolled out of a ruck by Italian forward Sebastian Negri.

Play was paused for more than seven minutes as the 24-year-old, who had scored his second international try just minutes earlier, was carried from the field of play.

Hundreds of people took to social media to share their thoughts on the incident and send Willis their best wishes.

Respected coach Ben Ryan has long since held strong views on the ‘crocodile roll’ method of clearing out rucks and shared his thoughts after Willis’ injury.
