Police have issued an appeal for information after a firearm was found inside a car in Coventry.

Officers from West Midlands Police were alerted to the discovery of a firearm inside a vehicle on Grangemouth Road in the Radford area of the city.

Police were called yesterday evening at around 5.20pm (Friday, August 28) and officers remained on the scene for several hours.

It has been confirmed that the vehicle had been abandoned on Grangemouth Road.

At this time, it not known how long the vehicle had been present on the road.

Both the car and weapon have been recovered by police, who are conducting enquiries into the incident.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact West Midlands Police.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police told CoventryLive : “We were called to Grangemouth Road in Coventry at 5.20pm yesterday (28 August), after a firearm was found in an abandoned car.

“The weapon and car were recovered and enquiries are ongoing.
