News that American burger chain Five Guys is coming to Coventry has been greeted with unbridled excitement by many Coventrians.
The news was confirmed earlier today by CoventryLive following four years of expectation and speculation.
The popular diner has for a long time said it was looking to open an outlet in the city – with bosses looking for a suitable site.
Five Guys has not yet revealed the location of its Coventry restaurant but has said it will open this summer.
As far back as 2017 CoventryLive speculated about Five Guys coming to the city and finally this week a spokesman for the US burger chain confirmed a Coventry restaurant is coming this year.
The spokesman said: “I can confirm we’re opening in the summer.”
The spokesman added that they would share further information on the restaurant as soon as they were able to.
The news was posted on the CoventryLive Facebook page prompting more than 700 comments.
Many of those were simply people tagging their friends to share the good news but Five Guys fans had plenty to say.

Some fans were pleased at the prospect at not having to travel to Solihull, Birmingham or Leicester to get their Five Guys fix.

A new experience and where it might be
There were some who admitted they’d never had a Five Guys burger or hotdog but were looking forward to it.

Some speculated as to where the new restaurant might be.
Anthony Hudson said: “Got to be at the now vacant Mod pizza location.”

Some are less enthusiastic
However, not everyone welcomed the prospect.
Five Guys food is far from being cheap, a fact alluded to by Andy Jeanes who said: “Pricey but love the hotdogs and the fries.”
Others were more scathing though.
