Defensive duo Fankaty Dabo and Michael Rose made their first appearances since March, as Coventry City played a final friendly before the start of the Championship season.
Both made their comebacks from injury, being included in the starting XI and getting an hour under their belts, as the Sky Blues drew 2-2 with Solihull Moors.
Their return, ahead of schedule, will come as a boost for boss Mark Robins before Saturday’s opening league game, away to Bristol City, as the duo were not due back until the end of the month.
Last season’s Player of the Year, Dabo made something of an unexpected appearance, having been absent for the whole of pre-season with a hip injury.
Rose, who was also back after a hip operation, had been an unused substitute in the Carabao Cup victory over MK Dons on Saturday.
Teammate Matty Godden was not involved in the friendly, but tweeted a picture of the line-up, tagging in Dabo and Rose as he wrote: “Things you LOVE to see.”
Meanwhile, Jordan Shipley tweeted: “The boys are backkkkk.”
There was also a first appearance for Ben Sheaf, after he made the move on loan from Arsenal last week, while former Nottingham Forest striker Tyler Walker was handed his first start as he continues to build up his fitness.
City came closest to opening the scoring at the SportNation.bet Stadium in the first half, with Josh Eccles hitting the crossbar.
And the deadlock was broken just 90 seconds after the break, when a Jordan Piggott own goal put Coventry in front as he turned a Marcel Hilsnner ball into his own net.
In a half which saw plenty of changes, Jake Beesley converted a cross into the box to level for the hosts with 67 minutes gone.
Substitute Jack Burroughs restored his team’s lead five minutes from time, after Walker and Gervane Kastaneer had gone close.
That advantage lasted just two minutes, however, as Beesley netted his second of the evening to leave the match all-square.
