A Leamington vet has been named the best for looking after rabbits in the country.
Nicky Leech, of Vets4Pets, won the Rabbit Vet Nurse of the Year award against hundreds of nominations.
Winners were judged on numerous criteria, including their expert understanding of rabbits’ specific needs, the specialist rabbit facilities available in the practice, the provision of educational rabbit materials and the general support for rabbit owners.
Nicky said: “I cannot tell you how much this means to me. I have loved rabbits since before I was a veterinary nurse.
“They are the most beautiful, interesting and loving creatures I have ever met, and highly under rated and mis-understood both in and out of the veterinary profession.
“I am so honoured to have been named and nominated among others that have the same passion, and together I hope we can change the lives of rabbits for the better.

Following the win, Vicky will be awarded £500 and a trophy from Burgess Excel Awards.
Dr Suzanne Moyes, a judge on the panel and veterinary director at Burgess Pet Care said: “Huge congratulations to Nicky for winning this award, which is testament to her hard work and determination to provide the very best of care for rabbits, not to mention her passion and knowledge to improve their wellbeing.
“Huge thanks must also go to all of the veterinary professionals and practices that were shortlisted.
“The quality and sheer number of applications and nominations we received was astounding, so it was no easy task drawing up a final shortlist and deciding on the winners.”
