Popular Coventry beer makers Dhillon’s Brewery have collaborated with charity Coventry Pride to create a pale ale for Valentine’s Day.

The tipple, entitled Unity, has been made with the idea to “reflect both the immense diversity of our world, and to stand in unity with the LGBTQ community”.

Dhillon’s Brewery brand manager Gordy Maz told Coventry Live: “2020 was one hell of a turbulent year. However, one thing we learnt was to LOVE.

“We have partnered up with @PrideCov to celebrate the upcoming month of LOVE, releasing our Unity Pale Ale on Valentine’s Day with one message: Love is for everyone.

“This beer reflects both the immense diversity of our world, and to stand in unity with the LGBTQ community. Love should not be determined by your sexuality, ethnicity, identity, or any other factors.

“In support, a percentage of proceeds from every can sold will be donated to Coventry Pride Charity. Happy Valentine’s Day to all!”

Coventry Pride said on Twitter: “We are proud to announce that @DhillonsBrewery has created a beer called “Unity” in support of the LGBT+ community & that for each one sold they will make a donation to Coventry Pride.

“It’s available for pre-order now, with delivery by Valentines Day.”

It’s not the first notable partnership the brewery have made in the city, having worked extensively with Coventry City to creates Sky Blue themed beers.

Football and ale fans will know of Dhillon’s replica kit inspired beers, including the Stout of the Vanilla, or SOTV, in tribute to Coventry City’s infamous chocolate brown away kit of the 1970s and the enduring rivalry with Aston Villa.

The brewery announced last year it would be opening a cafebar called Dhillon’s Spire Bar at the city’s famous historic Christchurch Spire in the city centre – formerly home to popular nightspot Inspire.

Owner Dal Dhillon told CoventryLive at the time: “We want to be somewhere people can come and have a fresh pint of beer, where they can sit inside or outside in the surroundings of this lovely building.

“I think what we’ll be offering will be a really nice experience for customers and I really think Dhillon’s Spire Bar will make a really nice addition to the city.

“I’m really encouraged with what the city is doing so I’m chuffed to be a part of it.”
