A police officer was allegedly assaulted on Thursday (May 5) evening after attending reports of a disturbance in Exhall. Cops say the assault happened at a flat in Hayes Lane.

Police say a man is alleged to have punched a police officer and placed his hands around his neck. Officers subsequently arrested a 42-year-old man from Exhall on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.

He has since been bailed. There are fears alleged incidents of this kind may be becoming increasingly common within the region, with a police officer allegedly kicked during a disturbance in Nuneaton on Thursday (May 5).

Violence was reported over the busy Bank Holiday weekend with four police officers allegedly punched and headbutted in Warwickshire. Fortunately, none of the officers were seriously hurt in the alleged attacks.
