Coventry City are reported to be interested in signing Manchester United midfielder James Garner.

The Sky Blues have joined the race to land the highly-rated teenager on loan for the 2020-21 season, according to Football Insider.

Coventry are said to be facing competition from Championship rivals Huddersfield Town.

Garner has come through the youth ranks at Old Trafford and made seven first-team appearances for United to date.

That includes two Premier League outings – both off the bench – including his senior debut against Crystal Palace in February 2019.

He also made four appearances in United’s 2019-20 Europa League campaign, including starts against Partizan Belgrade, FC Astana and AZ Alkmaar.

It is reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will allow Garner to go out on loan this season to get more game time under his belt.

Coventry have already made seven signings during the summer transfer window following their promotion from League One.

Two of those are on loan from Premier League clubs – Ryan Giles and Leo Ostigard from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively.

The Sky Blues have also been linked with a move for West Bromwich Albion midfielder Sam Field.
