Entertaining children at home throughout the Covid-19 lockdowns has sometimes been a struggle at times to say the least.
And the need to keep up with home schooling has had many parents feeling at a loss.
But one Nuneaton mum, who is also a full time teacher, decided to set up an Instagram page to get parents and carers inspired about home activities.
Daisy McDonald, a teacher at Chilvers Coton Community Infant School, set up the account and posts craft activities often demonstrated by her three-year-old daughter, Eva.
She started the page, named @early_years_play_with_eva at the beginning of the first countrywide lockdown last year and is close to reaching a milestone of 15,000 followers on the platform.
Daisy said: “I set it up at the end of January last year before lockdown and in just over a year I have gained 15,000 followers.
“I share activities that are easy so parents can use the stuff they have at home. It’s mostly recyclable materials, so parents don’t have to spend a lot of money buying things. “
As Daisy specialises in early years, most of her posts are suitable for younger children, but she has recently been also posting activities for older kids too.

Early years activity ideas
This idea is really simple and fun – it could even be done with more pieces for older children.
Oooo, red spaghetti anyone?
A marble run is a winner in my book, you might have to eat a few ice creams for the sticks…
