Cops say suspected burglars rammed a police vehicle as they tried to get away from a home burglary in Warwickshire.
Officers – along with the force’s dog unit – had been called to reports of a burglary in progress at a residential property in the Claverdon region of the county in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, August 29).
According to police, the suspects fled in a stolen Audi SQ5 and “tried to ram our Police Dog Unit off the road”.
They then attempted to flee on foot.
An individual has been arrested on suspicion of burglary.
The Audi – which police say had previously been stolen in another burglary in Shipston-on-Stour – has been recovered by Warwickshire Police for forensic examination.
What have police said?
In a post on Warwickshire Police’s Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) Facebook page, said: “In the early hours of this morning we responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residential property in Claverdon.
“Officers from OPU, South Warwickshire Response teams, and our Dog Units attended the scene.”
Police said an Audi SQ5 was seen leaving the scene and “tried to ram our Police Dog unit off the road” before suspects fled on foot.
The post said the vehicle was stolen last week from Shipston on Stour in another burglary and has been recovered for forensic examination.
Property was also found discarded in fields by Police Dog Buzz, according to the force.
Along with OPU Warwickshire and the force’s Dog Unit, the incident was attended by South Warwickshire Response teams.
