The Ricoh Arena has emerged as one of the favourites to host the Premiership final.
A report in the Daily Mail claims that Premiership clubs had voted to not hold the showpiece event at Twickenham due to the staging fee.
The league is understood to be seeking alternative venues with the Ricoh Arena, home of Wasps, and Bristol Bears’ Ashton Gate being considered if neither team are involved in the final on October 24.
Both are currently in the four clubs behind Exeter Chiefs, who have already qualified for the semi-finals, competing for the three remaining play-off places.
Another ground being given some consideration is Gloucester’s Kingsholm Ground.
The match will be played behind closed doors following recent government changes to combat the spread of coronavirus that saw the DCMS pilot scheme for a limited return of fans to ground be scrapped.
Should the Ricoh Arena stage the final, it would be the second major game in as many years to use the venue after it hosted the Heineken Champions Cup semi-final between Saracens and Munster in April 2019.
