Lockdown is back until the start of December – forcing many restaurants and cafes to close until restrictions are lifted.
But many eateries big and small are ploughing on and in Nuneaton, we’re lucky to have a wide variety of offers serving up all kinds of cuisines.
Below, we’ve listed some of the options that are available that may not be the best known – but are well worth a try before Christmas!
The family-run business in Bloomfield Drive offers grazing boxes for meals, events, gifts and so much more.
Their offer ranges from light lunches such as the meat Mediterranean for £6, a farm’s grazing lunch box (£12-£22) right the way up to the colourful and joyous celebration cookie stack, that will set you back £30.
Having gained popularity through social media during the first lockdown, Grazeful now has its own website where you can see pictures of the grazing boxes and create your order.
Whether it’s sweet or savoury you’re after, Grazeful have got it covered.
It’s hard to ignore what this guy (@RanvsRasoi) is serving up if you are an Instagram user. Each weekend, Ranv’s Rasoi presents a new menu on an Insta story. To order, people have to direct message him what they’d like to order and a preferred time for collection.
The most recent menu included chicken tikka thighs, naan and rice, fish pakora and garlic cream cheese, green chilli chicken breast, naan and rice. Visually the dishes look amazing and they are proving to be very popular on social media.
The only snags are, it’s collection only in Nuneaton and only available on Saturdays.
There’s not many takeaway/collection offers which offer ‘nutritionally balanced and extremely healthy food’, but that’s exactly what Healthy Eats are doing.
Their menu, which is available to peruse online, offers breakfasts, lunch, snacks and smoothies – with the majority of it catering towards the healthier end of the market.
Fancy turkey penne bolognese? Or a hot smoked salmon salad or a Thai green vegan curry? They’re all there along with breakfast taco and burritos. If you subscribe to their website, special offers are available too.
Deliveries are available Monday to Friday along with collections from its premises in Attleborough Fields Industrial Estate.
Based on Coton Road opposite the Ropewalk car park, the Thai Tham is an established restaurant in the town with a strong reputation for serving Thai food.
They’ve adapted during 2020 to offer an online ordering service five days a week, allowing you to select from its massive menu ranging from seafood to duck dishes, set menus to rice and noodle specialities.
Sweeney’s Slice and Grind
Located outside the White Lion on Croft Road, authentic wood fired Neapolitan pizza and speciality coffee are available from a refurbished horsebox to warm you up this winter.
Pizzas containing ingredients such as pulled pork, chilli beef and courgette are on offer along with panuzzos – which are fresh sourdough cooked to order filled with meatballs and mozzarella or chicken, jalapenos and mozzarella to make a hot Italian sandwich.
They’ve got a wide range of coffees and hot chocolates available too. You can order online or in person at the horsebox.
Another ‘new kid on the block’ in Nuneaton as the establishment in Attleborough Road only last month.
They offer cookie dough, milkshakes, waffles, donuts and muffins that can be delivered to your door. A cookie dough pizza meal deal is available for£20. Bargain.
They’re getting some great reviews online as they look to establish themselves in a market which already has the likes of Kaspa’s Desserts and Crave Coffee and Desserts based in the town centre, Cream on the Green in Abbey Green while Sweet Treats is just over the border in Hinckley.
Crossed Khukris Gurkha Restaurant
This is a real gem in the crown for Nuneaton when it comes to food. Nepalese cuisine isn’t one that is high on people’s list when selecting a meal for a treat and to save on the washing up.
The menu from the town centre restaurant, which is available on JustEat, is massive. It features lamb, beef, fish, vegetable, signature fishes and chef’s recommendations – which includes the Cross Khukris Specia and sherpa beef cooked in Gurkha style.
The Delicious Burger and Shake Company
The Attleborough Fields Industrial Estate business proved a real winner during the first lockdown when people were craving something to lift their spirits. They do that in the form of Frank Parker’s beef burgers topped with a variety of ingredients including cheese, gerkins, bacon, crispy onions – or how about another beef burger!
There’s chicken burgers and vegetarian options too as well as a variety of sides and milkshakes.
Oakridge Golf Club
Did you know this popular golf course on the outskirts of Nuneaton – which is also a popular wedding reception venue – can deliver a full English breakfast to your door? Or how about a caramel apple tart or a pulled pork burger with chips.
There’s mains, paninis, sandwiches, pizzas, desserts and much more all listed on their menu along with drinks and sides.
Just like they did during the first lockdown, the Arbury Road venue is not shutting up shop and is taking food out to the people of Nuneaton – and beyond.
The menu is massive. There’s a mixed grill boasting an 8oz beef burger, 8oz chicken, 4oz steak, 5oz gammon, 1 sausage and black pudding for under £20 as well as various steaks, chicken and rib meals. There’s a daytime menu too consisting of light bites, jacket potatoes and pub classics such as beef lasagna and chilli con carne. Orders can be made via JustEat and also by calling direct.
