Families, friends and couples have all been getting their skates on to glide into the festive season in Coventry’s very own winter wonderland.

Set in the famous Coventry Cathedral ruins, Coventry Glides ice rink has welcomed thousands of people from across the region in the run-up to Christmas.

The festive rink, suitable for anyone over the age of five, will be open until Thursday, January 9, including right up to 8pm on Christmas Eve, before re-opening at noon on Boxing Day.

Slots are still available and Laura McMillan, director of audience strategy at Coventry City of Culture Trust, has urged people to book as soon as possible.

She said: “It’s been fantastic to bring some extra magic to Coventry City Centre this Christmas with Coventry Glides.

“Seeing the joy that taking to the ice has brought so many people has been wonderful, and we look forward to welcoming many more as we head into Christmas and the New Year.

“Coventry Glides is an outdoor experience for the whole family to enjoy, and you don’t even need to skate, the free spectator area has delicious hot chocolate, hot dogs and even some mulled wine for your Après Skate! Tickets are selling fast so book now to make sure you don’t miss out before we close on January 9.”

Visitors can also enjoy food and drink at the rink before or after skating. Warm-up with a delicious hot chocolate, coffee, or tea, accompanied by a slice of cake or a festive mince pie.
