Parents and carers in Warwickshire have received a warning from a safeguarding team about a graphic suicide TikTok video circulating on the social media app.
Warwickshire Safeguarding team said the content was “extremely triggering and highly graphic” in a message sent to parents across the county.
The video is trending on the TikTok app whihc is highly popular with young children and teenagers.
The team has urged anyone who believes their child has seen it to seek support.
CoventryLive has seen a copy of the message to parents, which you can read below.
It reads: “Dear parent/carer, please read the following message received from the Warwickshire Safeguarding team: There is an extremely triggering and highly graphic video currently trending on TikTok of a man live-streaming his suicide.
“Whilst TikTok have stated that they are doing their best to remove the video, it has now been shared across all social media plarforms hundreds of thousands of times including under fake captions.
“Some captions on TikTok are as trivial as look at the pasta I cooked tonight before the video then plays therefore children can come across the video without even searching for it.
“We cannot state enough that this video is extremely distressing and we urge children, parents and carers to avoid the app whilst this video is in such high circulation.
“Children who have witnessed the video should seek appropriate support from either a parent/carer, teacher or from mental health support services.”
