MIDFIELDER IN TALKS
Coventry City’s Gervane Kastaneer is in talks to leave the club despite impressing boss Mark Robins in the Sky Blues’ most recent pre-season outing.
CoventryLive understands that the Dutch winger, 24, will return to Holland in a move that will allow Robins more room to continue his recruitment push.
Kastaneer has made only ten appearances since completing his high profile switch from NAC Breda last summer.
Coventry City favourite Liam Walsh is yet to feature for Bristol City during pre-season – and Sky Blues fans are keen to know why.
The 22-year-old midfielder was dubbed ‘Messi’ by his City teammates last term on his way to winning the manager’s player of the season award at the club’s post-season celebration.
But despite City’s obvious interest in his services, they have been told that Walsh will have a starring role for his parent club this time around following his success in sky blue.
Aston Villa have stepped up their interest in former Coventry City striker Callum Wilson, whose future at Bournemouth remains uncertain.
The Daily Mail claims Wilson is on Villa’s striker shortlist in this transfer window along with Brentford’s Ollie Watkins.
Newcastle United and Crystal Palace have also been linked with the 28 year old.
The season is almost here and Mark Robins has just one friendly left to decide who will start the season at right-back for Coventry City.
The Sky Blues boss will be without first-choice Fankaty Dabo for season openers against MK Dons (Carabao Cup) and Bristol City (Championship) – and for a handful of games that will follow.
They will also be without right-sided central defender Leo Ostigard (international duty), certain starter Michael Rose (hip injury) and the versatile Julien Dacosta (ligament injury).
So who will he start at right-back without the Sky Blues’ ex-Chelsea star fighting fit? Here are his options and how they have performed during pre-season…
