A woman has been left with facial injuries after being assaulted in a park.

The woman, who is in her late 30s, was attacked and racially abused in the skate park area of Coleshill Memorial Park in the market town on Tuesday evening, police have been told.

The incident happened at around 5.30pm when the woman saw some young men trying to damage newly planted trees in the park.

Police say she asked them to stop, and one of the men then assaulted her, causing facial injuries.

A racist remark was also made towards the victim.

Now Warwickshire Police are appealing for witnesses or information.

Investigating officer PC Thomas Sismey: “We’re appealing to the public for any information on this incident – whether you witnessed the offence, or a group of males acting suspiciously in the park.

“This sort of abuse will not be tolerated in our communities and enquiries are now ongoing to identify those responsible.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 309 of 16 March 2021.”

Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
